Talent Issues 2022
#41
If you don't think adjusting the talent caps without adjusting the prospect development doesn't have an effect on career paths then I'm really opposed to any changes.

Talent caps are a static number. Meaning when we are pushing prospects through quicker and at a higher rate of success to have parity, than there is only one segment of the player population left to be sacrificed for the static talent cap to hold - veterans. And since this is mostly random, we are seeing a sizable share of 26-32 year olds being crushed by injury in the name of talent caps.

Think about it this way. If we currently have 20 80s-90s per team and we want to reduce it to 15. Not only will 5 players per team be randomly dropped by the computer (primarily via injuries) there will likely be another 3-7 players per team that will be dropped IN ADDITION because of the settings we have with rookie development. Instead, we could decrease the tendencies of rookies developing so that we're not seeing such a dramatic number of drops. This is hypothetical obviously, but the point is to show you that these are NOT unrelated. EVERY rookie that develops does so at the expense of a veteran. So when e are dropping talent caps AND leaving rookie development alone it is a double-fucking of realistic career paths because it dramatically reduces the odds of an Adam Dunn-like career.

I never said that it doesn't impact career path. The whole reason you take volunteers and only slash the talent cap the equivalent amount is to avoid the scenario you described. We've just had two full seasons since the cuts now and it hasn't impacted rookie development in the slightest. Where is this idea coming from that we're letting the game determine who dies from cap cuts?

Contract Status: (Xyrs/Xamount OR Xamont/arby status)

SP Kyle Lobstein - 2 years left for 16.0M - 89/89
**Figured we can both benefit, i'd be willing to pay off one of his years off the contract to have him slashed out. I can do without him, of course he wouldn't affect my budget much either since my payroll is already low. Let me know if he gets rejected or approved, planning to use some cash on Winterball.

But you never gave any indication of your plan. You barrelled right into it. If you only plan to drop the talent cap to adjust for volunteered players that is a different issue. Your initial post didn't detail that at all.

The concern with rookie development is that it is already too high and changing the talent cap with no corresponding adjustment to the player development is a double whammy on veteran players. Like I have asked - what specifically are you intending to do?

The same exact method we used two seasons ago and the first post referenced the original thread.

pretty sure he matches it to the number that correspond with the players he lowers. That way no one else should see a re-adjustment.

That's how I'm kind of hearing it...but it would be nice if that was more explicit.

He's already said he would be using the same method from the last time when we did this.. I dont know why there is so much arguing over something that would only do good for the league. The only sacrfice here are guys who shouldnt be rated that high to begin with or dead weight players.

Quote:Here's the goal:
20 90s overalls over 2 years - Lower 90s+ overall by 1% (and 90s peak proportionately)
100 80s overalls over 3 years - Lower 80s+ overall by 5% (and 80s peak proportionately)

Here is why I am asking questions. So it's a simple question...are we only killing volunteered players or are we doing more? The previous thread also mentions the possibility of dropping the farm rating in the future. These are legit questions...and it annoys the piss out of me to hear BS like that mike.
