Engelbrecht, Mike MIN 29 1B 91 91 10.6m FA '86

Accept. We are retooling for the future and our Catching situation looks rather bleak. Ponomar still has a year before Arby and looks to be a solid catcher when compared to a declining Kerwin. Engelbrecht provides an elite level bat with a very fair contract and still in his youth, but this is all about the future for MIN.

Reds Accept

Although we hated to part ways with Ponomar, we feel that adding Engelbrecht at 1B will immediately benefit us in our push for a title. Engelbrecht is a power bat with great defense and we need both. The Reds still have a great Catcher in Cooper so we are still in good shape at that position.
