We are retooling for the future and our Catching situation looks rather bleak. Ponomar still has a year before Arby and looks to be a solid catcher when compared to a declining Kerwin. Engelbrecht provides an elite level bat with a very fair contract and still in his youth, but this is all about the future for MIN. RE: CIN / MIN - theo317us - 11-17-2018 Reds Accept Although we hated to part ways with Ponomar, we feel that adding Engelbrecht at 1B will immediately benefit us in our push for a title. Engelbrecht is a power bat with great defense and we need both. The Reds still have a great Catcher in Cooper so we are still in good shape at that position.
