Dear Brett Anderson,

The Florida Marlins love you to death. We wish you to stay with us, especially when we traded Hamels and Johnson to get you, Weeks, and Hunter. We see you are friends with Brad Hand on our team, and we have him projected to follow you in the rotation within the next couple years. We also know you would be an ace on many teams, but Hunter is the ace, and has performed well as it even though he currently has no wins. Now you are only 24, and have at least 2 more years of arbitration, so we would like to offer you a 6 year contract, leaving you the option to go to free agency at age 30 if you so choose. We know Florida can give you a nice home even though our budget is so low. As well being -5 greed, although being a Scott Boras client we wish to offer you a fair deal.

The contract we offer is 6 years 42 million.

Considering Anderson has two years of arbitration remaining that's quite the discount for 3 free agency years.

We see it as the this year we get a raise, next year works out about even for arbitration and we even things out in our final year. We think each free agency year at the "hometown discount" is worth at minimum 10M.

How about 3yrs 7M with a 2yr player option at 10M a year with a full NTC throughout the contract is fair to FLA and Anderson. We hope you accept.

Florida would like to make a small counter, since we would be giving you more money this year, how about making it 7 mil/3 years and a 3 year team option at 9 million per year with a full not trade contract? We have no interest in trading you, we can assure you that.

We thought your initial offer did consider that, we're going to stick by our guns on that counter.

Add the extra year and it is a deal.

Let's go ahead and make the final 3 years part of the deal and we'll divide the extra 10M across the life of the contract.

6yrs 51M (8.5M annually) with a full NTC

We gladly accept. We are very happy to have Brett Anderson for the next 6 years on our team. We feel with him and our other young guys, that we will strongly be able to compete.

Just do us a favor and move your team in the offseason so we don't encounter this issue with your other young stars. My clients enjoyed getting paid but we understand each team operates under it's own guidelines and we try to keep that in mind.

Brett also was willing to compromise to stay because of his low greed and commitment you made to him by acquiring him and giving him a raise this season and next.

Do you mind if we post these negotiations publically?

I will look into moving, and we completely allow you to post these negotiations.
