Hokey may have no intention of letting them go to FA, but what about a new GM? We are hoping to find a new GM for them, right? So there's no telling what a new GM might think. They have very little minor league depth and having the picks (prospects) is more attractive than older veterans who are on the wrong side of 30. Detroit is also on pace to being in the red without the trade. Adding even more salary and the usual revenue sharing payment and you're looking at a team even more in debt. Financially, I don't think it makes sense.
