We're not in the business of artificially fixing the warts of mogul player development. Last I checked, in real life there are plenty of guys who face this exact issue. And most of them just simply end up not playable because of it.
That's trying to make what I'm suggesting into something totally different. It's a suggestion to take a player that Mogul suggests (from Speed) is athletically gifted, yet their defense (namely Range) suggests that are not.
There certainly are players who are not playable due to poor defense. Those generally come in the form of a corner outfielder who can't field or a first baseman who can't even handle that position. Speedy players (like Billy Hamilton and BJ Upton) are moved to the outfield when they're deemed unplayable in the infield.
The defensive edits take care of:
C to 1B
3B to 1B
RF to LF
CF to LF or RF
But Middle Infield, which generally needs to have 90+ range, doesn't have a suitable defensive edit if they only have (for example) 80 range.
