Push Back Trade Deadline, Remove Waivers!
#1
Yes. You read correctly. I'm making a suggestion that would eliminate a process that I enjoy.

Make Sept 1 (Sim 11) the Trade Deadline and eliminate Waivers

This is something that is being looked at in MLB. Probably not as far as September 1, but it makes sense for us as a league (if we're going to push the deadline back) to have it at Sim 11.

1. The current July 31 deadline is usually slow. More time allows for more teams to decide if they're in or out.

2. One of the fallacies of waivers is no priority list (which is too hard to track), so certain teams can just roadblock willing trade scenarios from other teams.

3. Our anti-tanking rules may prohibit some trades if there are 2 months left. With 1 month left, those trades might be more inclined to happen.

I'm a bit of a skeptic, but willing to give it a try.

If we do this will we make this a hard deadline for all trades? Currently I believe waived players can be traded thru the end of the season if they are under 90 ovr (Something along those lines) I'd be fine with this proposition but I feel the best thing to do would make this a hard deadline.

That's the proposal, to eliminate waivers.

Would this go into effect this season?

I'm guessing it would be next season, since rules changes aren't generally implemented in the middle of a season.
