I propose that any bet on any terms in the future that involves mogul cash must be placed in escrow at the time of the bet. That escrow can be placed in your bank and will be what covers the bet at the time of the payout. If you don't have the cash at the time of the bet (either in your bank or not), you can't make it.

I have had 2-3 bets in this league. Two times I won the bet, I waited patiently over a course of a season to receive payout. I didn't harass or push, I knew it would be paid.

The bet with Peter that I lost will be paid after the 2053 season is over. When Peter and I made the bet I had 20M+ which changed over the course of 2053, and I am unable to pay the bet. Shame on me.

I am proposing this because I think it will protect all involved going forward.

This makes sense to me. As long as we keep a good record of all 'escrowed' money in a thread in the Bets forum, there's really no downside to this. And it would only take like a minute of Andy's time to maintain it in the file and in the forum. This has my vote.

while we got this thread started, i'm going to change course on this (sorry gilly) and bring up something that has irked me for awhile in this league. can we please abolish any bets of over $15 million mogul cash? it's insanely unrealistic to bet 20-30 mil like some have.

real life gm's don't bet like that with their owners money. and all this does is if you lose you give more money to other gm's and keeps their runs going longer than it should. it's not like this gets cash out of the file, it's insanely unrealistic to bet too much. i'm ok with 5-10 mil bets, even 15 (mehhh) but anything higher just looks foolish.

i realize gilly only bet 10 mil, so that's fine, this isn't directed at gilly at all, but since this thread is started, thought this post from me is relevant and a good thread to post anything concerning bets.

I'll sooner disallow betting than escrow. Bets will be paid when they can be and any more crap on this and I will negate all bets and ban them.

Bets are supposed to be fun, when that stops and they become a nuisance - bets stop.

No worries, I was more or less trying to keep anyone from being butt hurt (peter) by suggestion a potential option. I don't care either way, and from the sound of it this has more history than I was aware of. Carry on.

It's not a history thing, bets are supposed to just be a fun side thing. I don't want to have to think about them.

The only confusing thing was that when the payout was to be made was never clearly acknowledged by either of you. So, if Peter is upset, he only has himself to blame since he's the one who started the thread.
