This year and the 4 day gap from Sim 4 to the Draft has made for a lot of early picking and intriguing draft talk/trading in the forum. Since the draft is this league's highlight every year....should we follow this schedule every season?
We do Sim 4 on a Friday and the Ammy draft first round is posted for offline drafting immediately after. We do whatever isn't drafted on the next Tuesday and then Sim 5 lands on a Wednesday.
It would feel sort of NFLish with all the time devoted to it but it's also one of the most exciting and active times in the league. So what say you? Stick with our usual way or try this Memorial Day style again?

This way is great. We always talk about how the draft is the deadline, so why not give it the proper break? I sort of feel like the draft scouting can be rushed. You get ~47 hours to see the final draft class and the worst part is that the scouting would take away from your weekend.
I understand some people might not be able to do a Tuesday draft that would normally be able to do a Sunday draft, but my question is - Won't the extra days for scouting allow you to compile a more comprehensive list to send in?

I'll never be able to attend a draft
on a Tuesday. Not for at least a year.
I like the more relaxed 4 day break
to study, but knowing I will always
have to either compile long draft
lists or trade the picks beforehand
will be a drag. Always enjoyed the
drafts real time. Won't be the same.

What about this:
1st round draft done by Sunday night
2nd round done by Monday night
3rd round on Tuesday night.
Would be very easy if somebody was not going to be here on the important nights of Sunday and Monday nights to send in a list.

ID love for the draft to switch nights. I would be more inclined to keep my picks. although sxr's idea is one I am ok with too

We could keep it Sunday and just make the draft officially start Friday. That gives lots of time too.

We already sort of do that. Having one of us admins post a thread would probably help a little, but I don't see a lot of activity happening like it could with a long layover.

Something like this would be fine. I think the following would work better:
Sunday: 1st Round
Monday: 2nd and 3rd Rounds
Tuesday: 4th-6th Rounds
I can offer to do one of the nights. PSBL did their draft like this and it was great. If you had to miss a night, you knew your list didn't need to be very long, so it didn't feel so much like auto-picking. This allows for the same "event" feeling to happen and should drum up just as much trade talk and activity.

My problem with splitting the draft is we have to commit more nights to be able to attend the draft. We complete the draft is roughly 2.5 hours and dont see why changing to split it up would be a good thing

Agree with Peter about the multiple nights.....But I do like the 3 day break for pre-picking.

The more we talk I think let's try a season in which the sim happens Friday and we heavily promote before and after Sim 4 that prepicking should happen before the draft Sunday night.
I really don't want to split it up into multiple days, that's just a pain. We'll see if admins heavily promoting pre-picking gives the same effect.
