Rule Changes : Comp and Stadiums

I was able to hold a discussion with DJ today and we have the following changes being made effective today.

Comp Changes

We are going to 1 round of comp, it will be a sandwich round between the 1st and 2nd round. Players will still qualify for comp under the current guidelines, So there will no longer be an A and B, A and B will be merged together.

However the wrinkle in this will be is in the pecking order of who gets to pick where in the comp round. We are going to off of the total value of contract for that round.

For example

Player A gets an offer of 2 years @ 10M per
Player B gets an offer of 5 years @ 9M per
Player C gets an offer of 3 years @ 5M per

In the comp round of the draft the selection process would be

Team for Player B
Team for Palyer A
Team for Player C

The reason this is being done is because there are some Type B comp players that are getting higher contracts then Type A comp players.


Stadiums


It was asked to me about building of a new stadium and that is a bridge we have not crossed yet in our league. So here we go, this will be done on a team by team basis.

The cost involved will be as follows

new ballpark with all average convience, comfort and sight lines - 100M
" " with all Good " " - 200M
" " with all excellent " " - 300M

Now, you can build the park without the full amount of money and take a loan from the league, but you need to be able to pay over 1/2 of the cost of building the stadium and the rest needs to be built within 10 years. You also need to show and prove that you can budget yourself that each season you will have the funds to pay back to the league. So if you are someone that tends to overspend in FA or has issues keeping a profitable budget, then this will not be something for you. So this will be done and approved on a case by case basis.

For example, lets say you want a state of the art stadium with excellent conditions. You need to be able to pay 150M at the time of construction, the rest of the 100M would need to work out in payments, you can do it over 10 seasons of 15M a season.

When it comes to building a stadium why not just take what Outtahere has done. Build it the way you want, then you need half up front, while paying off the rest in a loan type policy?

I would question why we aren't using the in-game price.

The loan idea is great since Mogul limits the amount of funds an owner would have have, but if I try to build a new stadium with all average, it would cost me $88M. The different options that you chose changes the price (capacity is a big influence). I also believe that fan loyalty/support effects the money the city and sponsor will pay.

I think it would be better to simply have a team propose a design and then if approved they would have to pay 50% up front whatever the game says the team has to pay.

I guess that is another way we can handle that Matty, I was going off what I would feel are a fair value for different spec like stadiums.

I do think the 50% deposit should be a requirement with this.

Upon figuring out the compensation order today, I found people may not have been 100% clear on when we're changing the compensation format. The change to one compensation round is happening THIS YEAR. However, due to it not being clear you will lose picks according to previous seasons this time (lose 5th for Type A, 6th for Type B).

Next season you will lose 5th for signing one compensation player, 5th and 6th for signing two, and 4th-6th for signing three.

Also, we are trying to keep rules updated in each forum. If something looks out of date or is confusing to ask and we will clarify.

So just to be kinda clear, we can build the stadium anyway we want, we just gotta pay up to 50% of the costs?
Just asking b/c Oakland needs a new locale so I wanna know.
