Was more thinking for future seasons. Just so people can reasonably expect when things are going to happen.
I think it gives space where needed (draft, trade deadline, offseason) but doesn't drag at the end by adding the extra sim. We could also slow down the daily sims to 10-12 days sims are set the playoffs for a certain day of the week. Just ideas, but it would end this confusing nonsense every season when we all look at each other about when things will start and when key events will happen.

Ive already told Andy this but ill post it for the sake of posting. I believe its in the best interest of the league to maintain flexibility rather than adopt a rigid schedule. People generally know what to expect for our event dates and if they dont they would be asking that question with or without a rigid schedule.

Except that we don't. The draft being on Sunday night would solve having to have a poll every season. We don't "generally know" - it changes because the one day sims always bump us off schedule as constituted now. That results in mid-week drafts when people prefer Sunday. It results in odd file posting times that confuse people without a schedule. How many people in the last three days have come on XAT and said "When is the first sim?". I can think of 7 GMs right off the top of my head. When a quarter of your league is outspoken about being confused, that begs the need for something.
Also, I'm not sure how you can argue that this does not allow for flexibility (The playoff sim area has a three day window that can be adjusted as needed)? The idea is that this at least gives people a skeleton of what to expect. What it eliminates isn't flexibility - it eliminates uncertainty. It allows for regularity. Of course things might have to change, but if we stick as closely to this as we can it only helps everyone know what to expect.
What do we lose by creating a loose routine?

It's fine, it allows for flexibility around the draft as well. People will bitch when a playoffs happen on a Wednesday and resignings aren't due to Sunday but that's going to happen inevitably. Hollidays will play with it so we need to check for that in the offseason but that's easy.

If sim 12 happens on a Tuesday and we're gonna wait until Sunday to release the FA file why not sim the playoffs on Thursday? It would give more time to ensure team files for the most important sim.

We certainly could - I think there is flexibility there for how we end up doing that each season.
