I can honestly say this deal makes no sense for Baltimore.

Sure he gets an ace. One who at the end of the year will have to be offered 1.33 x arby, and then the next year likely a free agent or an outrageous amount of money. Why, he has been traded two times in less than a year?

Plus Baltimore is nowhere near competing in the AL East, if you are going to get an ace trade for an upcoming one not one who is so far in his career.

Plus he isn't even an ace in my books, but that does not really matter.

What matters is all this does is hurt Baltimore more than it helps and I know I am watching ARods deal closely, because I do not want Baltimore to turn into another Philadelphia where if he were to leave or even if he stayed the team becomes absolutely useless for well over 5 years.

agree - aces don't come often and 2 on a team is pretty good.

Alright im getting a million different stories of why this is a bad trade

One argument is that the value is bad...uh really because thats just not true. lets take a look at the boris turner deal
http://www.firstclassmogul.com/showthrea...ght=turner
look at the value that was given here and how mine is in comparison. Now lets look at the stats of both Cote and Turner and I can argue all day that cote's been more effective than turner has been and the turner trade gave up far more.

Now onto the argument of whether its a good fit for baltimore. It certainly inst my place or anyone elses' place to say the direction of his team but since when is it a bad move for the future to pick up a 26 year old ace. That baffles me as an arguement. I think everyone agrees here that pitching is the premium in our league and he gets to pick up a real good one here.

Baltimore isn't competing anytime soon and outside of the low HR effects of FLA and PIT, Cote isn't that great. Considering BAL has the highest HR effect in the league, Cote will get annihilated with the Orioles.

If Cote were 22, I would approve this deal. But Baltimore is years away from contention, meaning Cote will likely be a trade chip in a few years. Since I doubt Cote nets any better deal than this ever....this is a lose-lose situation for Baltimore.
