Here is what compensation will now look like:
1. Jhc's formula determines eligibility.
2. If you release the player for comp, you must offer fallback. Fallback will be 80% of the player's previous salary.
3. Any compensated player who signs for 10M or more annually or a total contract of more than 40M would achieve Type A status and the releasing team will draft between the 1st and 2nd round.
If the player signs for less than 10M annually and their contract's total is less than 40M they will automatically be a Type B and the releasing team's comp pick will be between the 2nd and 3rd round.
4. Order of comp choices in each comp round will be determined by total contract value.
Hopefully this eliminates the Rich Thompson scenario.
