Just wanted to throw a poll out there to see if enough people support adding next year's 4th to the future draft picks we are allowed to trade after draft day. We aren't that far off from it already and it shouldn't make things anymore difficult for anyone. It could also add another angle trade wise post draft/pre deadline.

FYI, we've had just 7 4th rounders used for compensation in the past 20 seasons.

I'm not a big fan of this idea. As much as it's unlikely that a 4th gets used for comp, it does happen from time to time, and I haven't heard about a clear penalty if someone does sign 3 comp players after trading their 4th. I don't think people would do this on purpose, but I can imagine someone putting in a bunch of bids, getting busy and ghosting for a day or two, and ending up with more players than they intended for.
You also have the situation where if someone changes teams or switches, you've limited the bidding options in free agency for a new GM (they are down to max 2 comp signings instead of 3 if the 4th is already gone).
I recognize that these aren't huge things, but I also don't think we're gaining a ton by doing this either, so the potential for either of these two problems is enough for me to lean against it.

If you want a clear penalty for signing a third player when you don't have your 4th round pick...
1. Next highest pick (that is originally yours)
2. Next highest pick acquired 4th round or above (if no original pick)
3. 3rd round next year

This combined with the fact that a future 4th (100+ after comp generally) isn't likely to make or break most trades makes me lean no.

So it's a pretty mixed reaction at this point. I'm not super motivated either way to be honest.
