In addition to rocky's suggestion - mattynokes - 05-08-2014 Rocky's: Type A fallback is a two year deal ($16M/2). Expanding on that is looking at the primary source for the reason for rocky's suggestion. Money. Teams still have the money to spend. First off, I think lowering revenue will help, since the ultimate goal is lowering the net profit for teams to spend on FAs. Also, I think we've stabilized those crazy demands we were seeing a few seasons back, so player demands can probably go back up to 20% like it was in the past. Additionally, here's a few other things: Player Happiness - First off, the crazy design that randomly assigning friends and being happy if they're in the organization doesn't make much sense. We're here for baseball, not Dawson's Creek or Beverly Hills 90210. Secondly, how does it make sense for your MLB player to be happy if his buddy is in Single-A? on Negotiating: Mogul is too easy to get a good deal when a player is happy. There definitely shouldn't be the team loyalty that exists in Mogul and as someone else put, "we treat players like slaves." I wouldn't mind dropping this to -100%, but in the least something close to -100% will make it so you can't get a super sweet deal just cause the dude is happy. on Performance: This one has always made me laugh. So if a player is happy he has a tendency to perform better and if he's unhappy he'll perform worse? Beyond the fact that emotions don't produce results, it's silly to suggest if a player is unhappy that he's going to essentially get pissy and tank. This could use to be set at -100%. Contract Negotiating Process: In addition to all of this, you can toy with the re-signing process by a slew of offers and continuing to counter until you get the salary and years you want. In an old league I ran, I made it a 3 offer process. If the player doesn't agree by your third offer, he doesn't sign. ---------- So to recap... 1. Type A Fallback: $16M/2 2. League Revenue: -10% 3. Salary Demands: +20% 4. Player Happiness: Negotiating (-80 to -100%) and Performance (-100%) 5. Contract Negotiations: Player must sign by third offer RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - rockybull - 05-08-2014 the player happiness thinig. man, i agree on this 200% man. what is this 1920? People can't pick up a phone and call their friend? How does it help you being more happy just because one of your friends gets signed to one of the minor league teams? most minor league affiliates are in another state than the home mlb club. just pick up a damn phone and talk to the guy, it's stupid in mogul. I also saw other things like a dude was born in mexico, and i was phoenix team which was a good team in that mogul league and the player was unhappy and said he wanted to go somewhere colder, i mean that is crazy. there were other crap too, but mogul is extremely stupid in this area. 1. You know I'm for that 2. I'd be for that 3. I'd be for that and I'm one of the smallest revenue teams in this league. I'm for it 100% without a question 4. absolutely for this, great suggestion 5. I don't care either way, i'm fine with it either way RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - AndyP - 05-08-2014 On the third suggestion, dropping things incrementally is still the best thing. Boosting player demands isn't necessary, we'll just keep adjusting revenues until we balance closer. Consider we were 10M or under profit 20 years ago and now we're 25M profit. As long as we gradually get in the 5-10M league wide profit, we'll be fine. I think I'll just admit I fully believe in 1, 4, 5. Overall it balances the competition and takes out some of Mogul's fuckery. RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - sxr007 - 05-08-2014 I agree on implementation of 1,4,5. RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - mike - 05-08-2014 I was discussing these with matty last night so ya obviously I'm for all of them. RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - AndyP - 05-08-2014 Expect 2 and 4 to be done tonight after the resigning file when I edit cash taxes RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - mattynokes - 05-23-2014 So, it's down to #1 and #5: 1. Type A Fallback: $16M/2 5. Contract Negotiations: Player must sign by third offer RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - AndyP - 05-23-2014 I'm fine with 1. 5 seems like a rule that you do so you have more rules. So I'm not a fan. RE: In addition to rocky's suggestion - mike - 05-23-2014 I don't think we need 1. The whole panic was that those couple guys who clearly shouldn't be type a comps would get signed. Unless I'm mistaken they didn't so the teams got stuck with them. 5 I do like though. It's way too easy to fleece the AI as it is so shortening that a bit is always good in my eyes. |
