Article Compensation - mattynokes - 01-14-2012 Currently you'll either get $500K or $1M for writing articles. And at that the GM gets to grade his own work. It just doesn't seem worth my time to even do my top prospect articles for a crummy $1M. Other leagues offer a much wider spectrum of compensation. With those leagues seeming to max out around what the cost of winterball would be, I think things need to change. $1M to $10M Grammar, league interest, and overall quality would be the deciding factors. $1M might be a real short article that's only team oriented. $5M would be a solid, but not great article. $10M would be one that could interest many people and really add something to the league. I would say two or three Mods should "grade" each article and the average grade is used as compensation. I would think this would raise the interest in writing articles, which creates activity and more activity is always good in leagues. RE: Article Compensation - mike - 01-15-2012 I really don't think any article is worth 10mil. No point in adding more money in the league when there s already too much of it. I mean I do podcasts from time to time. You put all of what I say into an article and you prolly have yourself a good 5 pages or more worth of content. Does that mean I should get like 50mil? You do articles and stuff like that because you enjoy it more than what you get in return. Moreover I don't think GM's should be put at that kind of a disadvantage if they don't have time/ don't have interest in doing articles/podcasts/radio shows. Turning it into a counting number issue is the wrong way to go. Many leagues issue compensation for articles worth enough to winterball a player, so there is some validity to potentially awarding this much. It's not like $10M articles would be frequent. For articles it's not about length, it's about quality. You can write very little in length, but have information that took more than just looking at standings or a player's profile. Making it easy, enjoyable, and eye pleasing to read are other aspects. At times I've thought about writing some articles that could be very interesting to the league. I think it would be interesting to discuss some issues like minor league stats, expanding on what vitals mean, and how I go about draft day scouting. However, I'll keep my thoughts to myself if I'm only getting a lousy $1M. With a hard cap on how much you can earn, team's wouldn't be at a disadvantage. In the end, it generates some more activity and encourages people to take interest in the league outside of just their own team. |
