I'd say having your ace in your long relief is that bad. at least he will still get some inings and its kind of smart to do that if you know you will lose anyway. It protects his arm. Best hitter on th ebench though is obvious tanking, if your gonna do that put him in AAA so at least you can say your protecting him.

This rule only applies to players with more than 5 years service time and less than 6 years service time that mogul mistakenly sends to free agency as opposed to arby.

What about someone who is 36 with an expiring contract, and they are on the decline and under 90, do you still have to spend more money on him if you want to resign him?

In order to renegotiate a contract the new contract must exceed the current deal in years, total value and annual value. Team and, especially, player options will be considered in this decision. If you try to circumvent this you will be fined and the severity will depend on the amount of money remaining on the contract. Again, you cannot screw over the players because the AI has loopholes. This would be both a rule violation and a violation of the don't be an ass rule.
against this rule not really fair
total okay but annual is not fair
