he'll make 90K more than the minimun, not per year but total, that's not enough to fore-go no multi-year min. bids.

I understand what your saying DJ, but that type of rule on top of all the other complicated rules we have just put a sour taste in my mouth. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that these rules are becoming a bit too crazy.

Cubs will bid 3 years @ 800K per

Is that enough over the league min for a multi year deal?

Well the idea is you're preventing him from getting more legit bids.

A 1yr/1.5M offer, for example, wouldn't be enough, 2yrs/1M wouldn't either but both would be preferable IMO than 3yrs/800K. I get looking for deals but if your bargain bin hunting limit it to 1yr deals for players who could make other teams major league roster. We don't have 40 man rosters, Rule V, and our waiver rules are bare bone. We have no protection for players who are being blocked or stockpiled, these sorta bids only further it.

And PR, you call for rule changes every other day...wtf?

My theory is if the player is bad/unpopular enough to be signed to a 3 yr deal worth under $1M a year then whats the problem?

I agree with Nick. He got released. he was bad. He's not worth it and he's hurt for 290 days. ppl like that don't make money. And it's based on market value so his salary would increase based on how many other teams bid on him...I thought that was the whole idea...
