A way to handle waivers
#1
24-48 hours after the sim to August 1st every GM posts a completed waiver list. Any further waivers will be irrevocable waivers and will automatically be released or claimed WHEN THE NEXT SIM OCCURS. So any players you wish to trade in August, must be posted at this time.

GMs then have 24 hours to place any and all waiver claims and afterwards we then we'll publish a master list of those who cleared waivers or those who were claimed (and which team won the claim.)

Claims will be awarded based upon the current season standings with the league that waived the player getting preference to the claim. Deals must be worked out by September 1st simulation.

This way we can allow for waiver claims without compromising the ability to sim every day after the deadline. This also ensures waivers aren't a random process and teams don't miss out since we would be designation 2-3 days for the waiver process.

My only concern is what are the rules outlining acceptable return for a waiver deal. In real life anything coming back must be able to pass through waivers or be a PTBNL traded AFTER the season. I'm fine with the PTBNL so long as there's some sort of guidelines posted in the trade as to how they're going to chose. Either they already hammer it out, it's based on production, a predetermined list, etc. but the return must be quantifiable in some way, not just a vague PTBNL.

Thoughts, ideas, concerns, haters gonna hate?

Does this even pay with how incredibly fast we go from august 1 to september 1?

This is a great idea.

It will prevent any further Derrick Lutz confusion.

I'm more wary about PTBNLs, especially considering the quick hook we have with owners in some way. It will force owners that had to take over the team to be on the hook for fulfilling a trade they may not have wanted to make (or were even aware of) and that could create some confusion.

Only way you can have better chances at waiver wire deals is to keep the usual sim schedule following the trade deadline. I mean 24-48 hrs after the Aug 1 sim to get your waiver list in already puts us in September with 2 days left to possibly put together a deal

I'm saying we hold the daily sims until after all waiver issues are worked out which would then leave 48 hours for GMs to work out potential deals as we start simming daily at that point. No I don't think it really pays necessarily, but enough people have asked about it sparked and idea so I thought it appropriate to at least discuss. This is only a suggestion at this point.

Doesn't matter to me one way or another, but just making sure everyone knows that implementing this kind of waiver change will lead to slower second half simming

Oh I know, it's just I don't even consider waiver deals in this league with daily two week sims directly following the deadline. It's a near impossibility to pull them off.

So I think the idea is good....I just question how much use it will be with our sim schedule.
Here are some problems I see:

24-48 hours after the deadline sim, based on how we sim now, would be to September 1st. So giving teams that kind of time frame is essentially meaningless. If I post my waiver list on hour 47, how will anyone be able to claim them in time much less have a realistic shot of making a deal?

Are we waiting essentially three days after the deadline sim to resume simming?

If so....why don't we do something I've been contemplating suggesting - move to one week sims daily. Two week sims are brutal if injuries occur and those weekly adjustments could mean the difference in a playoff appearance. This would also then give a four day window for waivers to occur.

I honestly love the simple waivers we have now
