You guys need to do less of them or the rule is going back to black and white. It's been more loose lately, but we've had way too many examples of late.

So tone it down or we go back to hard line on it.

This is why we need either a hard rule or none at all. And trust me I'm not alone on this.

The belt started loosening when Matty shopped Mcgee a couple seasons back. Then the flood gates really opened after Gilly was able to deal Martinez. I said then that it was a bad idea to leave things up for interpretation and this crap is the exact reason why. Once you see people make these kinds of moves it makes others feel that if the time comes where they need to do it then they can whether they are doing it in good faith or not doesn't matter. Pfeifer had action on him and thusley shouldn't be able to be traded.

I never had McGee and Martinez is a terrible example for a S&T. He was only signed to a 2 year deal and didn't get traded until the deadline. PIT used him for 1/3 of the contract. Teams need the flexibility to trade guys on short-term deals to an extent. As I recall, I believe it was gmoney who first asked and not gilly shopping him. It's good for league health when competing teams want to add near the deadline. If we're gonna have a hard and fast S&T rule, it needs to be:

1. Players re-signed (arbitration and minor league contracts excluded) or signed in free agency to 1-2 year deals cannot be traded until July 1.

2. Players re-signed or signed in free agency to 3+ year deals must remain on the team for a full season before being traded.

The belt loosened because I prefer to have less rules, not more. I don't want to dictate every little thing nor do I wnat to police it.

But you guys have to act with integrity too and if loosening a rule is going to result in a bunch of overzealous signing and trading, then I will have to tighten it again.

Correct looking back it wasn't mcgee but you did shop someone. I just can't remember who now. A loose rule is nice in theory but clearly it's getting abused.
Todd Kiel that's it.

I'm 100% down for this.
