Back when I was running Seattle, I took a look at the league's average vitals. I've now went much more in-depth. You can now see how your players stack up position-by-position and if they are above average, below average, just average, or even elite. Here's a things I based my research on:
- 2058 and 2059 Opening Day Files
- Only players rated 75+ Overall
- Pitchers:
- 65+ Endurance and 80+ Overall = SP
- Under 65 Endurance = RP
Certainly we have some sub-75 rated players who are useful. However, the vast majority of sub-75 players are not even close to major league material in FCM. Another thing you might notice is that this means pitchers rated 75-79 and with 65+ endurance did not qualify for either the SP or RP averages. This is because those type of players are in "pitcher purgatory." With the way the file works, generally SPs rated this low are not good enough for the rotation and are long relievers. As such, they would also throw off the true reliever averages.
How do I read these numbers?
You should go column-by-column to assess where your players stand to the league as a whole for each vital. A true above average leadoff CF is likely not going to rank in the entire above average row. He'll likely have some vitals that rank even better than above average and other that rank worse than average.

I did these slightly different this time around. For position players, I made sure that there were at least 2.5 players per team, starting pitchers have at least 8.5 players per team, and relievers have at least 6.5 players per team. I felt it was better to have less players than to simply do all 75+ players like I did last time (the endurance requirements still remained the same as above). This obviously still has more than a 25-man roster per team and it's to allow for different roster builds and what would assumed to be injury depth.
