Playoff Magic Numbers!!!!
#1
Bored while watching sunday countdown.

[quote]Magic Number-In certain sports, a magic number is a number used to indicate how close a front-running team is to clinching a division title and/or a playoff spot. It represents the total of additional wins by the front-running team or additional losses (or any combination thereof) by the rival team after which it is mathematically impossible for the rival team to capture the title in the remaining games.[/unquote]

The magic number is calculated as 163 − W − L.

American League
Baltimore(clinched Playoff berth) to clinch AL East:4..(I think)
Toronto(clinched playoff berth) to clinch AL East: 7 Magic Number
NY Yankees cannot clinch AL East
NY Yankees to clinch final playoff spot 1:
Houston to clinch final playoffs spot: 8
Chicago WS to TIE for AL Central: 8
Cleveland to win AL Central: 1

National League
Florida(clinched playoff berth) to clinch NL East:8
NY Mets(clinched Playoff berth) to clinch NL East:9
StL has clinched NLc title.
LAD to clinch NLw: 6
San Diego to clinch NLw: 8, to clinch WC:
Colorado to clinch NLw:8, To clinch WC: 9

washington to clinch WC: 4
ATL to clinch WC: 6
Chicago Cubs to clinch WC:8
LAD to clinch WC: 7

Notes
AL
If baltimore gets to 99 wins, they clinch ALe
NYY needs to get to 88 wins to clinch final playoffs spot
Houston needs to win out and NYY to lose their final games to get in.
White Sox need to win out to tie for AL C and force a 1 game playoff. If cleveland wins 1 game they CWS are eliminated from playoffs.

NL
Florida/NYM have clinched the NLe, Washington is eliminated from the NLe title.
Fla and NYM play a 4 game series to end the season.
SD and Col play a 3 game series to end the season.
If ATL wins 3 and Washington 1 game, Col and LAD are eliminated from WC berth and can only win NLw title.

rushed it towards the end, hopefully this is correct.
Oakland A's
2015-Current
(18 seasons)
1,340-1,577
74-.44-87.66
4 AL West titles
2 ALDS Series appearance
1 WS appearance
