I know that Outahere has been referenced many times in this post. I was in OH for 21 seasons.

36 teams became far too big as interest waned and long term GMs left.

But, I think the hardest part about attracting GMs was that it was a "sim ahead" league. So prospective GMs likely felt they were at a disadvantage to the current GMs that had more information. Plus, "sim ahead" is more work. Yes, this format can involve a fair amount of scouting work to do well, but with perfect scouting you can still draft pretty well. So it is easier to participate in a "no sim" league, though not necessarily to win.

I don't like the idea of expansion because whatever teams we add make it incrementally harder to keep a league full. It is better to have a waiting list because life does interfere forcing GMs to leave - even temporarily.

However, if we do expand, I would like to see a 4 division format to keep all with equal number of teams....and no more than 2 teams added.
