New Compensation

Takahashi hit 30HR for 4 straight seasons in oakland yet didn't even get a Type B.

Doing this sounds fun.

Compensation is meant to add balance to the league?

To compensate teams that can't afford to sign their players?

Compensation in this league adds to the non-balance in the league.

Look at what teams get compensation each year. Only the top teams 95% of the time.

Add more compensation and make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Actually, the primary purpose of compensation is to keep at least sme FAs hitting the market.

Yeah the purpose is to never help the small markets with comp. In reality small markets are dealing away their would be FA's for more than they would get in comp. So most of the time it will be those richer teams letting some guys go

I'm really hoping for the GM to determine who is comp worthy option.

Alright so what are using? I need to know for my decisions in the offseason.

I think we could give the new QO system a trial run, but it's up to the other admins.

Whenever we give it a go, I think a static fallback will be fine and it'll be one less thing to worry about calculating each year. We can always change the QOs if needed. Type A = $14M and Type B = $7M would be my recommendation.

Keep the old system, too rushed to do it now. This discussion should be for next year.

I like matty's suggestion, but if the numbers indicate that they need to go up or down, we should accommodate from year to year and not force ourselves into strict guidelines.

I don't mind keeping the current system this offseason, but what's going to happen is we're going to leave the discussion until next offseason and then we're just going to be rushed again when it comes up next year. We should pin down the details for next offseason right now while the topic is hot.
