Switch to BM13 for 2031 season
#1
there is a thread concerning the pros and cons of this switch already but was never a poll before. so here is the thread to vote and i suggest we switch over to bm 13 prior at the 2031 season and switch over at the conclusion of the world series to make the offseason as smooth as possible.
to be clear i think we should switch over at the conclusion of the 2030 world series or after the resignings file

The best time to move would be following the world series and before the re-signing file. This will allow people to plan their re-signings around the rating changes.

And as I said in the other thread...

Quote:I'm not worried about rating changes. As some go up, others will go down. Another positive is the ability to choose the buyout percentage, which I can imagine would help some of the tedious work of editing cash.

I'd just like to give another vote of confidence to BM '13. I've been looking through the default file and I'm impressed with the defensive changes. The biggest thing that I notice is defense doesn't improve as much as it used to. I think it's incredibly unrealistic for some of the defensive progressions we've seen on BM '11. You can progress defensively, but it's rare to take what would be an average defender on draft day and turn him into a Gold Glover. For BM '11 you routinely see mid 70s defensive vitals turning into very good fielders.

Back to the catcher I was referencing, with one year left to progress he's projected to improve Assists +1 and Putouts +6. This has no improvement on the big three vital ratings for defense, though I'm sure there's some minute effects to the various things listed on the skills tab. Also, in LF he's projected to improve Putouts +3, which boosts Range +1. For a one year of development Outfielders surely improve more than just +1 Range wise.

I voted yes by accident, but I intended to vote no. To be fully clear, when the admins take this suggestion into consideration, please note that I am not in favor of it, I do not want to switch. I didn't realize until after I saw the asterisk next to what I voted for. I wanted to request any admin if they could edit that for me. I am skeptical as to what BBM13 would do to player talent compared to where we have talent levels.

Not sure how "easy" you guys think it is to get the game but it wont be "easy" for me to get the game. My school blocks torrents and such. I cannot afford to shell out the money right now to get the game.

Only way I would vote yes is if we were sure it would help with recruiting.

From what I've noticed rating changes are almost entirely defensive changes. The changes reflect more of how a player has performed. For example, I've always felt 3B Kevin Paine has outplayed his defensive ratings. His fielding is about on par, but he's seemed to range better and have a better arm than his ratings suggest. When viewing the file on 2013, he's a much better defender rating-wise. On the flip side, if you see a guy who you don't think is living up to his defensive ratings, he's likely going to look worse on 2013.

I think it could very well help out with recruiting. Fact is a lot of people want to play in leagues on the new software. I would be very confident about being able to get everyone the new version. The hitting charts will add something to the league. The better defensive ratings/position changes will add more realism. Plus what seems like a small thing, being able to set a buyout %, I'm sure is a huge thing to the admins who have to currently have to edit team cash when buying out players.

A site like sendspace or sending files over AIM doesn't work?

Well that does work so if it were that way I would be able to get it.

Any word on this? I realize that I am new here and (very rightfully) have no pull, but a switch to 2k13 would be very appreciated. Hope we can get it done.
