Expansion
#1
Obviously this has been a hot topic the past few weeks, and DJ and I have now reached a conclusion. We are set to expand following the 2014 season. Here is some information on the 2 expansion teams.

Las Vegas Rollers, AL West. General Manager: Bubba

Colors: Red, Black and White.

Calgary somethings, AL West. General Manager: BurnedStang

Colors: TBD

We have run multiple sims, and budgets for other teams will not be hurt in the slightest.

As for the draft, it will be run very similar to this: http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread....-procedure&p=1109529#post1109529

With a few tweaks, such as all players 20 and under erased instead of 22.

Let's hear your thoughts.

I'm not 'pissed' off I just don't like it. For a number of reasons.
Most particulary, where are we going to get major league looking logos, and ones that can match the current team smilies?

I also do not think both expansion teams should be in the same division, thats a bad idea. Expansion teams normally do bad the first year so ur just feeding the current AL west teams wins. I believe the second team should be placed in the AL central.

What are the benefits of putting both in the west?

And for official team names? I'd be against the Las Vegas Rollers until we get a logo for them, though with that being said I once ran a league with all fictional teams, and we had a team like this and I made a logo for it - i'll upload it in a second.

I voted excited, I think it'll be an interesting twist and while I can't vouch for Bubba I can say Stans is a BAMF and understand the commitment we'd expect from an expansion GM. Both being here and not ruining the team are mandatory if this is going to be successful.

That said, I think it provides an interesting twist to the league and I think it would be an opportunity to spread out the talent a little bit.

I've simmed ahead and added the teams and they didn't impact any other teams budgets at those locations and had a big enough budget to support a team. I think we've mitigated the risk about as much as possible and FCM is a very strong league more than capable of handling an expansion.

This was my logo for the Dice Rollers which I made a couple years ago.

It's still not "Major League looking" We need to find a real online computer artist to help us here.

I also think it would be more interesting storyline wise to have two different teams in two different divisions, as it would change the mix of two different divisions not just one, so there would be two new story lines to talk about in the future.

I can take care of the logo's. I'm pretty handy in photoshop so long as I have a decent base image to go on. As far as the diamond w/ the city name that'd be easy to mimic in photoshop.

As far as what divisions they go in, putting one in the NL Central would require MIL to move to the AL Central and potentially an AL Central team to the AL West. The AL Central division is solid and stable I don't think adding a juggernaut would be fair to that division.

There is no way to place a team in the Central without hurting an existing budget

How is that so? I don't understand that? Can you explain how it wont hurt a budger in the west but it would in the central?
