We move down a little in the draft, pick up an early 3rd, and get some who-knows prospects in the mix.

I accept. I will explain why I gave up a good bit. I really wanted this 5th pick, I think I can do some things with it. I have my eye on a few guys at this spot. Drew is a nice RP, but I have a ton at that position. Griep is good as well, but he is blocked by Sid my stud LF, and I have a stud RF in Pollitt, and I have a good LF that I am high on below Griep. Venet is good, and has huge potential, but I have Ford, and Marcias ahead of him. Peter Blood I do like, but with that arm, he just doesn't fit with what I want from a starting catcher. He is very nice player, just doesn't fit into my plans. I think I have a chance to get a stud spec with this 5th pick more than the 13th. And I only have that 3rd rounder remaining, so might as well just scout hard at top and not worry about the rest. So I give up a lot here, but many of these guys are blocked, and you have a draft every year to replenish talent, I think I am fine. Padres get a great deal here, but I think I do too.
