They tried to have a minor league team, the Calgary Cannons, but the poor weather led to bad attendance and no longer made economic sense to have a team in Calgary.

Maybe we should look at attendance numbers of minor league teams to see which cities would be most interested in having a team.

Sacramento, Columbus, Louisville, Buffalo are cities that pop out to me on that list. Las Vegas is not even on the top 20 - when people go to Las Vegas, they are normally not interested in going to a baseball game.

It shouldn't be a matter of population to determine which city can sustain a Major League team. It should be a matter of which city has people that would want to go to a baseball game.

Look at the Green Bay Packers in the NFL, they always sell out but are in an illogical location population wise for an NFL team.

Sean, did you see this post? I disagree with your population list.

Jordan if there was not a salary cap in the NFL, do you think Green Bay would compete? You are talking about a different sport and comparing apples to oranges. You also cannot compare minor league attendance numbers.

Look at all the boxing, MMA and Shows in vegas... they are always sold out. When the UNLV running rebels were in their hay day, every game was sold out. What makes you think the same would not happen in Vegas with a professional team. People are in vegas to gamble, what makes you think people won't lay money on the game and head over to watch it?

It's got a high growth rate and contrary to belief it's not a ghetto. 32 Skyscrapers are set to be or are being developed in MC. It's the 8th richest city in the world is is home to one of the top financial centers in North America. and it's not inconceivable for a team to travel to a Texas team and then a short trip to MC and back again to another city w/ 1 day off. It is about 1050miles from Houston and with in 2000 miles of Los Angeles.(both are car travel and not a more direct route) Theoretically w/ a Japanese bullet train that is traveling it's top speed of 200MPH it can get from LA to Mexico in 10 hours.

Again it's a radical thought, but just something to stir the pot.

I really like this idea, I now would vote for Mexico City and Las Vegas.

I like the idea of expansion but I think it boils down to one thing: if we miss any offseason resignings or not.

If we do then we cannot expand without the GMs in place.
If we do not miss any submissions then we'd have to pull this off before 2018 and we'd have to push back the start.

Just my 2 cents.

100% against Mexico City & I think Vegas may be better off with a Domed stadium (I know I won't sit in 100* heat to see a game while on vacation)

Wait, we'd have expansion plans set before 2018 starts or we'd have expansion before 2018 starts?

Giving GMs zero time to prep for an expansion draft would be a fail

I'm acvtually liking the idea of expansion this time. I could be one of the expansion teams but I'd prefer to keep the Royals. I don't think it would be a good idea to do it for the start of the next season but in 2 seasons I'd be ok with it.

I vote no expansion.
