I will be doing a test run of the Rule 5 Draft. Anyone who wants to participate can. The results will NOT be entered in the file. This is merely to show how the process would work if we decided to run a Rule 5 Draft.
Schedule
Thu: FA File is released
Fri: Rule 5 File is released
Sat: FA Update #1
Sun: FA Update #2 / Additional Protects are due
Tue: Winterball / Rule 5 Draft
This gives people roughly 48 hours to get their protect lists in. If a team doesn't submit their list, they will protect the maximum players in the order that I have them listed in the file.
Then there will be roughly another 48 hours once the eligible lists are finalized to scout. Though, I would recommend scouting from the get-go and simply cross players off your list if they are protected.
The draft will be live in the chat at 9 PM ET, but feel free to PM me a list if you cannot be there. The full rules will be in the first tab of the Excel file. Please reply with your additional protect list if you intend on participating.

The Rundown
Auto = Must protect due to MLB Service Time (Listed in Blue in the file)
Elg = Players eligible to be selected and need to be protected in order to (Listed in Green in the file)
(2 Open) = This means the team can protect all eligible players and still have their 2 maximum draft slots.
CHW - Doesn't have to do anything and can still make 2 selections if they like. For this trial, I would still like for GMs in this situation to respond that they're interested in participating.
CLE - My team will have a minimum of 4 players eligible to be taken. I could, however, opt to expose additional players in order to gain picks in the draft for myself.
HOU - They could protect the maximum of 35, but they would have no available slots to make any picks. However, they could opt to expose 1 or 2 players to the draft in order to have available slots to make picks.
NYY - They have too many players with MLB Service Time. They need to expose 10 pre-Arbitration players to the Rule 5 Draft. They also cannot make any additional protects or picks.

So basically I don't have to say or do anything correct? All my eligible players are protected and I can select two players. I believe i am reading that correct.

Correct. I added your team situation to the list of examples.
Something didn't sort correctly for my team, so this is the Indians eligible players:
Wright, Basil CLE SP
Woolard, Sam CLE RP
Fujimoto, Ryota CLE 3B
Bembrick, Jason CLE SP
Wright, Jason CLE 2B
Fehr, Ben CLE RP
Burdine, Marc CLE RP
Gatton, Jake CLE C
Toles, Ed CLE RP
Batran, Edmund CLE SP
Macure, Matthew CLE RP
-----
CLE protects SP B. Wright, RP Woolard, and 3B Fujimoto for a full 35. No picks in the draft.
The holiday schedule has been brutal for me. I had to work all day today and have little energy to run the draft. I'll still try to get the full list of rule 5 draft eligibles finalized tonight and we'll run it tomorrow night (Monday) when I actually have time off work.
