Here's what I'm thinking, let's discuss this before we get to the scheduling so we have less problems this go around:
World Series: Thursday 4/5
Resignings Due (FA Opens): Sunday 4/8
-This makes the final day to submit resignings and FA release on a normal file day
First FA Update/ End of 72 Hour Period - Wednesday 4/11
2nd FA Update/Winterball - Thursday 4/12
Sim to ST/FA Update - Friday 4/13
ST Sim - Sunday 4/15
Sim 1 - Tuesday 4/17
This would mean the offseason lasts 11 days, most major file releases coincide with normal file release days. All-in-all I think this schedule is a nice compromise between guys who want an expedited offseason and those who want something resembling consistency. Thoughts?

Well that's two (probable) playoff teams, I'm fine with Friday so if that's the case I don't think it's a problem to lose a day.

Here's what I'm thinking....
Tonight: Final Season Sim
Tonight or Tomorrow Night: Sim through playoffs to re-signings (non-official file)
Friday: Playoff Sim (Official file)
Friday: Re-signings file
Why sim ahead? It gives people not in the playoffs some extra time to sort out re-signings. In my experiences very little changes in demands if you're not in the playoffs. So it would be an easy double check with the official re-signings file to make sure everything still matches up.
For what is very little extra work on the simmer I think this could be something that is done each season. Especially since this gives people more time to look over re-signings and could potentially speed things up for those not wanting to wait.

I got the impression last year and years previous that the 72 hour period was too much and unnecessary and that 48 hour period is enough and if the FA are hot enough they will obviously keep going past 48 hours

Good point about 72 - I would prefer 48.
I'm also ok with mattys idea.
Also dont resched on my part unless all 8 on board.

LIke all of the suggestions. Even though the file won't matter to me since Ill be more free on friday night then Thursday anyway. 48 hours is more than enough time for people to get on and check the FA list.
