ATL / PHI

Well, didn't think I would ever do this, but here we go.

Phi trade:
1B Adam Higginson 80/96

Atl trade:
This year's 1st round pick #8
SP Leon Greene 77/94
SP Brian Suter 77/93
SP Adam Borkholder 79/90
SP Leon Cortes 70/88
2B Marty Robertson 83/86

Higginson has been on the block for a few days now, and I just feel like I will not be able to put a team around him till he's about 30 or so. I don't feel like it's fair to him, or the franchise to hold on to him until we can magically compete in this division. He was unhappy in Philadelphia, and we felt it was best to make this move. Although he is going to a division rival in ATL, we felt this move was best for our franchise. To compete in this division, we know we have to have pitching, and we feel at least 3 of these guys can move into our rotation within 1-2 years. Also, we pick up a draft pick in the top 8, in which we like a lot of talent, as well as our replacement 2B, since Dawson is out for the year. Again, it hurts to trade my first pick in this league, especially to ATL, but it is a move the Phillies need to make.

it looks like a rip based on ratings, but frankly, I'm not a big fan of this draft or of any of these prospects. Though I'm not a big fan of Higginson either, not sure he'll ever be as great as he looks like he can be.
