Type A/B Compensation

Okay since it's been an often discussed topic here is my efforts to bring you compensation based on statistics. Here's my plan and how it would've shaken out this offseason for catchers. If you guys like I continue, if not we go to basic rules.

This is easy b/c it's just copying and pasting in excel. Here we go:

Okay elias is way too complicated to do. It would require so much work I don't think anybody is willing to put in the hours.

So here's my proposition -

Group like Elias; NL and AL (C, 1B/OF/DH, 2B/3B/SS, SP, RP)
Ten Total Groups.

NOTE: All formulas are intended to produce a number 70-110

Catcher Formula - ( (OPS*50) + ((HR+RBI)/4) + (PA/24) + (Assists/3) )

OPS is intended to be worth about half the total number, HR/RBI is intended to represent power and 1/4 of the formula with PA and Defense intended to count for the final quarter.

Notes:
Top 5 = Type A and 6-10 = Type B
After Anderson there's a 7 point drop off. Castro, Posey and Anderson would not be compensated.
Not split into AL/NL, might not be needed especially for catchers.

I like the idea. It will add another element to the strategy. Like take Ward last year for example. You could try and sign guys that you thik may perform well just to help you get some type B or A comp. Te only thing I don't like is having defense accounted for. It's too hard to really measure defensive worth. Maybe if you can weight it less than the other 3 quarters.

It's the catchers and it's weight, is on average, less than 10% of the total formula. It's also designed to only really reward you if you throw a ridiculous number of players out. 60+ you get 20 points, 40ish you get 15 and at 30 assists you're only getting 10.

This is just the first group too, the formula for catcher won't be the same as for 1B/DH/OF, 2B/SS/3B and Pitching.

I assume this won't affect the agent system though? Like it won't become Type As only need agents, but will remain 90+ overalls need agents?

Also, if this is implemented, maybe Type A's with 90+ overall need to be signed through the agent, but other Type A's can be signed via bidding war? Just a thought

Are we going to do the prior season's worth of data or several seasons? It's great when you're the beneficiary of one fluke year, but is that what we want to promote? Just food for thought.

Previous two years, like in the example.

Agents would still only be for 90s players, but we are going to implement the rule of not allowing extensions until a player has over 5 years mlb service time.
