CIN/NYY

:CIN: receives:

1B/3B Kevin Youkilis (the god of walks) 89
SP Joe Manion 79
$15M cash

:NYY receives:

2B Dustin Pedroia 77
OF Cullen Winger 71/84
SP Brett Samuels 48/75

accept. Youk's contract is massive but I can re-negotiate before that player option kicks in and he's gonna be a huge asset protecting Longoria.

He is a fan favorite so he'll bring fans to the park and I didn't have to give up too much. Just trying to keep up with the central!

Haha Keeping up with the Joneses?

Houston's turn to pull the trigger if he wants to stay up top!

See rules update. Renegotiating a contract for a smaller amount will not be allowed.

Besides that really CinCin. A guy who's dropping 3 seasons in a row w/ 5 more years of crazy contract. Easy veto.

Here is the maths. Youk will have 4 years left @ $17M per, that = $68M total. Cincy is losing Pedroia. Pedroia is making $6M for 2 yrs = $12M total.

$68M - $12M = $56M

After this upcoming season, Youk will be down to $39M in cost to cincy ($56M - $17M). He would then cost Cincy $19.5M to buy him out. Cincy already gets $15M in cash in this deal, leaving him a cost of just $4.5M to buy him out if he chooses to after 1 year, not even taking into account the extra revenue Youk will bring him as a fan fav or as a bat to help propel him into the sweet, sweet playoff revenue

DJ just scared of Cincy

You can't use the player options to gain an advantage signing him then turn around the play dumb when it comes to buying them out. If nothing else I've made it clear the stated goal was realism and representing player's best interests with a lot of the features and I think my decision in this situation is being made in that light.

That's the link to show that the POs were necessary to outbid TBR for Youk.

And Player Options weren't part of a buyout. Neither then nor now. Hence why they're given instead of extra guaranteed years in FA. The extra rule you added in said you can't renegotiate a deal without losing the Player Options. Buying out is not the same as renegotiating

If you want to make Player Options count as buying out, that's fine, but deals made under the old rules should be governed by said rules. That or you can stop counting options toward the contract's value

If the stated goal is realism, then remember that Player Options aren't guaranteed

Team Options have to be bought out now too? What about having to shell out the $22M NTC cost to buyout someone with a NTC?

Sorry for being difficult here, just annoyed when there has never been an occurrence of a buyout including the POs in the previous 6 seasons of FCM. Wondering why Cincy &/or I are being singled out
