I do this deal because it helps me lower my salary a bit. I never intended on keeping Hamles when I had traded for him originally. I only traded for him because of injury troubles late in the season. I shore up my bullpen with Plowden and get some quanity back in hopes that one of the guys who are close to peaking jumps a bit. McGrain ad Iacovetta still have awhile to develope so who knows how they will do.

Mike, You said you did not want Li and we agreed upon Iacovetta and Edmunds in his place. The 5 pitchers we agreed upon are Plowden, Trivedi, Edmunds, McGrain and Iacovetta.

If you still agree to those 5 pitchers, I will do the deal. If you want Li, I will need to take a piece out of the deal.

Cubs agree

I have a few bullpen arms almost ready for the majors and have a bit of a log jam. Hamels is aging (31) but I could get a couple good seasons out of him as a #4 or #5 starter. I also want to grab a 2nd lefty in my rotation because a few lineups in the division are more balanced on the left hand side of the plate.
