Pay a big price but the core of my team was already old and I saw the opportunity to go for the division with my great start and 3 of the other teams in the East having off starts. Get a guy I can slot into 2B or 3B where he is instantly a big upgrade over who I have there and a SP I can depend on.

WAS should really be paying the buyout, but the rule is really in place so someone can't grossly benefit off of a NTC contract and then project the NTC buyout on someone else and I don't think that's the case here.
