Toronto sends:
Rapheal Urdanivia 82 OF
Byron Guerin 71/93 C
Jeremy Wortley 82/86 SP
Pat Jones 83 SP
to San Fran for:
Javier Vasquez 88 OF
I really didn't want to give up Guerin as I think he's going to be a damn fine catcher but with Kenny Wilson's career in Toronto winding down and our need for speed (especially how well speed plays in our home ballpark), we had to go out and get a legit lead-off man.
Urdy was signed this offseason and originally I had offered Curtain so it wasn't a sign and trade move, but San Fran insisted on Urdanivia instead. So we had no intention of doing this at the time of him signing and we hope the full playing time he'll get in San Fran will make it worth his while.
So we accept and finally, after seasons of negotiations with different clubs to get him, Vasquez is a Blue Jay.
