White Sox gets:
Nick Messer SP 29 $14.5 million FA '53 89 overall
Jace Plantagenet RP 31 $9.1 million FA '53 87 overall
$8 million cash
Red Sox gets:
Dale Volpi CF 36 $16 million FA '53 85 overall
Prescott Anderson SP 16 $23,500 Arb '56 61/91
I accept. red sox need to get younger, and i like anderson, we'll see how he develops. i'm just taking on volpi so the contracts work out for both teams. 8 mil cash helps white sox with extra cash. i was gonna comp plantagenet at end of the season, but he has been one of the best closers in the game the last 5+ seasons and messer has been one of the better underrated starting pitchers last few years as well. white sox can keep both longterm if he wants.
Volpi was unclaimed off of waivers, so he was free to be traded anywhere.
Messer and Plantagenet were both claimed only by the White Sox, no other team claimed either of them.
Anderson is a prospect with 0 mlb service time so he didn't need to be put on waivers.
