Utility Players - AndyP - 02-26-2015

Over on sports mogul alloutwar is trying to galvanize some mogul league cooperation and sharing of information and it got me thinking about one of my biggest pet peeves.

Right now in our file (thanks to Mogul 13/14) - most players that show the capability to play multiple positions are actually incapable of it based on their (lack of) predicted stats.

Do we want to consider editing some players to better reflect their player card? For example, editing predicted stats so a guy who is an 83 SS and 83 2B has similar predicted stats for both? Or are we ok just playing things as they are.

Just something I'm chewing on and would appreciate some insight.

I would rather we didn't play with these things. Seems like opening a can of worms that we shouldn't be

I would be on board with something like that. I know when I've tried playing guys at positions where ratings suggest they should be able to play, but then find out mid-season that they can't.

I do also understand Pedro's sentiments that toying with a system that has no real problems could in turn create new ones.

All in all, though, I say it seems like a worthwhile cause.

The fielding chart is definitely some bad game design, but I would rather not screw with the player ratings. That's a last resort sort of move, and I don't think this problem is serious enough to justify it.

That was kind of where I stood, but wanted to see if others did too.

Unless you were willing to go in and change every guy that would need changing then I'd say no. I've just accepted that fact that unless they played other spots in hs or college that they likley won't translate anywhere else.
